Ok, to kick it off: My brand new 'Saucy Suzi' (as jaz put it) is ready to be picked up from the dealer To bad I can't actually make it till tomorrow evening....but ow well, she's won't go anywhere... Yes, she will be handled gently till she has gotten used to being in the wild outdoors. I'll post pictures as I have them.....it's not an NTV, but I still like her looks Funny thing this: On the dutch forum when people ask for a nice fun and easy commuter bike, the tend to get two answers: the Deauville and the V-strom 650..... I guess V engines are just the key for everything! Another fact about the V-strom: both the ANWB roadside service and the ambulance service use V-stroms (650), so they can't be that bad

Here's a nice example of a V-strom, operated by "Rijkswaterstaat". Not a very good photo, but I didn't take it. I nicked it off the internet somewhere. Rijkswaterstaat is a part of the Netherlands Ministry of Traffic & Waterworks. They are responsible for maintenance etc, of all the dutch roads / canals etc. Good luck with your V-strom. But I still don't understand why you didn't buy the 650-version (or "wee-strom" as it's nicknamed) with ABS-brakes. Franklin

That was a nice ride home But I could tell she was new and needed to be handled gently. She smelled like burned oil all the way, and smoking like from her back end.... But now she rests safely in my bikeshed, and the auNTy enjoys her new home in the other shed. (which will be fixed up to fit her needs) Just as a proud new owner: picasaweb.google.com/buzzins.pet.rock/DL1000?feat=directlink(ow....these are the first pics of my face too!) Hope tomorrow I'll take her out for a real spin....if I can wrestle her out of the shed again (she's a bit wide for the door)

Where would I go? Hmmm...Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic hmmm.....and Chile (I'd wish) Ow, and the trail over mount Jaferrau....which is amazing.... (don't try with the NTV though....) Having figured out how to get Suzie out/in of the shed I will be touring all over to get her nice and run in... only up to 111 km so far (been busy with other things)

Yellow? Wouldn't be my first choice But to be honest, I didn't pick black. The DL1000 this year was like the T-Ford. Comes in all colours you want, as long as it's black ;D Ok, just one more, because I had a nice day:

Hey Buzzin very pleased for you M8.. ;D You are obviously enjoying sexy suzi. Nice pics pal and thanks for sharing. Looking through for mount jafferau, and came across this homepages.solis.co.uk/~rider/steltex4.htmNow never heard of the stellar but it sound pretty good and this about tour trips, although gallery was down when i looked www.overcross.com/motorcycle-tours.htmlAnd you know how surfing can consume hours at a time and you always get sidetracked, well i did and found this. Although an all right site, i just shows that every topic will have it's followers, (but I still think that sometimes people get a bit too focused about their pursuits.) This one has dozens if not hundreds of bikes in tunnels/near tunnels/outside tunnels pics ...Nice pics but a little OCD imho... but interesting none the less. And at least they had a bike to take pictures of...... ;D Buzzin, Enjoy bike and ride safe..

Monte jafferau: alpenrouten.de/Jafferau-Monte_point218.htmlAnd an impression of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FSCuOs7fIkThey don't show it here clearly, but there is an enormously long, unlit and partially flooded tunnel in the climb to the fortresses on the mountain (ow....and cyclists in summertime without lights in same tunnel.....) Not sure how easy the route is though....I guess picking up on some off-road training first might be a good idea.
