can anyone help me please i want to change the front pads but the threded hex pin that holds the pads in has been rounded off inside(where the hex key fits) how can i get it out without drilling if poss

try a pair of pliers/grips to twist pin and some wd40

First question to ask yourself is "why was the pin rounded in the first place?" Answer is likely to be because it's seized in, rather than a previous reassembly was too keen! The solution therefore is going to be drastic. You're unlikely to get a stud extractor in far enough to work unless you drill and I doubt that you will be accurate enough to drill a hole for stud extractor without risking damage to the caliper while it's all assembled. I would need to wait until I'm next home (mid Aug now ) in order to have a look at a caliper and figure out a solution. I've tried to identify the part on this diagram 216.37.204.203//Honda_OEM/HondaMC.asp?Type=18&A=68&B=36&Action=Ois it No 19? If so, the first thing you need to do is buy a new pin, then you should be able to remove the caliper from the carrier bracket (No 11) after disconnecting the brake line etc. Try soaking with WD40 (at both ends of the pin) and then grip the pin between the pads with mole grips (on their tighest setting) and try to rotate the pin. I'm sure that you'll be defeated by this and eventually have to try other means. You could consider cutting the pin (leave a small stub) and releasing the pads, then trying a better grip with your Mole Grips. After you struggle with this for a few hours, you'll eventually reach for the drill. If you're able, use a pillar drill Cut off the pin flush with the caliper drill a series of ever larger holes through the pin, from the outer end If you're really lucky, you will eventually see the thread and can pick out the remaining pieces of the pin's threads, then run a tap through the hole, use coppaslip on threads during reassembly - one all bolts etc! Then post in with with photos and tell us all how you did it! I recently had a similar problem on one of my boxers. I have a dremel tool, but no pillar drill, so I carefully drill a pilot hole and then ground out the bolt to expose the threads which I picked out with an improvised tool.
