Hi spent all summer learning to replace rocker cover gaskets and strip carbs and clean but now my winter hack has been hotwired and left in my driveway. long story insurance excess £200 bike valued at £500 lol so cancelled insurance claim.
so my clocks have been smashed open and ignition barrel/steering lock broken wires from clocks have been cut and connected to what looks like added wires.
i have the haynes manual but cant really tell what i need at this point to get the bike road worthy again anybody know how to fix a broken steering lock and how easy it is to replace the ignition.
i really hate bike theifs what a pain i really love my old aunty

Just get a pattern or a s/h switch and plug it in, mine got nicked and dumped in a local river

The lock should be two torx bolts into the underside of the top yoke, easier to get at if you remove it

Hi again going to have a go at replacing the ignition barrel the broken barrel on the bike has had the wires cut from the bottom of the ignition barrel from the thief that tried to steal it. my problem is i have part of the wiring loom coming out of the headlight with 3 cut wires that should connect to the ignition barrel. my thoughts are there is plug connector for the ignition barrel is it in the headlight or has it been cut off and thrown away there should really be 2 plug connectors to hook up the ignition barrel one being on the wiring loom but as my bike has fairing and its a lot of work to get inside the headlight i have looked on the schematics on ''cms'' but no diagram on connectors any ntv 650 gurus know if the connectors have been cut off or if they are inside the head lamp

Hi oddjob1 are you sure the connector is in the headlight can anyone have a look under there ignition barrel and look to see if the there is a white connector that runs from the ignition barrel wire loom into the headlight. i cant imagine why they would put the connector in the headlight makes sense if it was left free to access around the bike frame. all that matters to me is i would have to make a new connector with the wire loom that has been cut rather than remove all the fairing and headlight
