Hi, i'm new to this board, I've just bought an NTV650 1994, it has a small problem as in when you rev the engine the revs don't drop back to idle straight away, which is a bit hairy when riding, i'm thinking it could be an air leak on the inlet manifolds and it's drawing in air, has anyone else e got any ideas?

My first thought would be sticky throttle cables - not an uncommon problem. Check to see if the throttle snaps shut promptly when the bike's at a standstill. If not, either try lubricating for a quick fix or new cables (Slinky Glide ones from Wemoto are good and not too expensive).
Hope you get it sorted.

Hi, the cables are fine, I've checked everything else out.

I fear you'll need to have the carbs off for a good check and clean, then. It will also give you a chance to inspect the inlet rubbers for leaks, which do tend to go hard with age.
It might be something simple like a sticking piston, which a good clean will sort. Good luck!

Thanks, I've just stripped and cleaned the carbs, they were spotless and everything is working fine, the rubbers however have gone hard and the front one come off without undoing the clip, so I think this is probably the problem, there are lots on eBay for sale so it would appear that this could be a common problem with this model.
