Hi Guys
I have recently bought a 1993 NTV 650 with about 58,000 on the clock and decided to join your little band of merry men (and women).
The bike was rebuilt by a previous owner about four years ago (2010) it had a replacement engine and gearbox fitted, I don't know the mileage on that but I believe the old one had gear problems, and has been painted silver/grey. It has a Fuel end can, from which I have removed the baffle, sounds very nice. It also has a Puig screen, which I found directs the wind blast nicely into my face and causes a lot of noise around my helmet....so I've removed it. Haven't been for a test ride since (horrible weather/having to go to work) but it'll be interesting to see (and hear) the difference.
I also own a 1968 Triumph Tiger 100S. This was 'restored' in around 2008, so I am busy fixing all of the things that the 'restorer' missed or cut corners on; which is a lot. I don't want it to be a show bike, just reliable and a bit more practical, so I have fitted electronic ignition and a new carburettor. Still to be fitted; two mirrors and a set of indicators, wiring loom plus a later type front brake.
OK, that's enough about the Triumph.
I have read some of the threads on this forum and have picked up some useful information already. For example, I had noticed that my temperature gauge reads pretty low, but from what I've seen on here that seems to be fairly normal. It does take a long time to start to show any movement on the gauge, so I might have a look at the thermostat and I see there is plenty of discussion about those too.
Looking forward to a Honda ride this weekend.
Cheers
