Decided two weeks ago to change my crash helmet as my other one was a few years old. Ended up buying an LS2 flip front helmet nice fitting, comfy etc only problem was I couldn't keep visor from fogging up even with vents open and at motorway speeds helmet kept fogging on less visor was cracked open.
However helmet was pinlock ready so I ordered the insert which arrived today. Fitted it within five minutes and what a difference. Helmet on all vents closed visor down and I couldn't get the visor to fog up, took bike for a spin this afternoon and visor stays clear but when I come to a stop my glasses now mist up, however I can live with that at least now I can close visor on motorway.
All in all happy with my new purchase.

I think your glasses fog up, due to your breath. So it's easy: stop breathing I used to have a pinlock visor on my work-helmet (BMW type 4). I'm sure some people love it, but I also had problems with my glasses fogging up in cold & damp conditions. On my current helmet (HJC) the visor has a ventilating position, which I use most of the time. But then again, I'm just fortunate that I don't have to go out on a motorbike in all kinds of weather anymore due to a change of job a few years ago. GvS

Have tried holding breath unfortunately I can only hold breath for 48 minutes and my commute is 1 hour 15 mins hopefully with practice I can get closer to the full commute time. lol

Right after the first few lessons I bought a helmet (airoh sv55) that came with an insert for the visor (not pinlock, but comparable) After a year or so it didn't stick to the visor anymore and I tried using the helmet without it... didn't like it. Since then I have always had a pinlock in all my helmets....even if it didn't come prepared for it (just drill holes yourself)

I bought a second hand (l know no marks or scratches though) lazer here that feels a bit cheap and uncomfortable, but it has a double D fastener (clips undo in accidents apparently), pinlock and a completely removable washable interior. Even with high humidity and rain it's mist clear, helmets have really improved since I was a nipper.

Plodditguest,
"(l know no marks or scratches though) " :-)
All the best with your new lid.
My last lid was an expensive, pinlock style flip lid.
My current lid is a Lidl flip lid that came with a spare visor for about £30.
I suspect would also not be loved by all :-)
However 90% of my ridind is under 60mph. Which is not much faster than people in Lycra with a push bike helmet.
Ride safe Rj.

Yes, but the hat really does look unused. Down here I can't get a job as its got a locals only employment law, so biking has to be on the cheap or not at all. I've only gone out on it maybe 4 times in 6 months, what with kids and tropical downpours. In Europe I've got Schubert flip and an arai SZ, If I thought I'd be riding I'd have brought one down. Still trying to find a second-hand jacket too. Things here are at least twice the price....
But as we're having such a lovely time maybe we'll be leaving after only another year.
