Put a 650 engine in my 600-k and found the output drive and swingarm don't line up. Was sold the engine as a ntv 650 but now thinking it isn't. Could anyone tell me what this engine is from? I've noticed the output shaft housing is a different thinkness on the new engine, this seems to be whats causing the offset. New engine part is 5mm thicker than old engine. But have same output housing on them. It's part number 4 in pic

RC33 = NTV 650, so the engine should be that of an NTV, but I can't comment on the differences for the driveshaft. But to me it seems unlikely they would have changed this...Perhaps parts of it have been swapped over?

Im no expert, but could the difference be in the design of the swing arm/shaft drive from the 600 - 650 models

I remember reading somewhere that after the first year of production the torsional driveshaft damper was upgraded to reduce the snatch in the drivetrain. This looks like it would be parts 9-11 in the diagram, which would fit inside casing part no.4. I wonder if that casing was modified to incorporate the re-designed damper?? It might explain why it doesn't fit, although I'm not sure that helps you much

make sure you have the engine spacers mounted correctly on the engine bolts, if not it wont line up!

Thanks for the replies, I believe somebody cobbled this engine( and the rest of the bike it came from) from many different models. The forks were made up from 3 different versions. Anyway found its actually rather easy to swap the housing and output shaft without losing the gear and washer in the engine, so once the weather clears up gonna try that and fix this electrical issue then can finally be back on the road.
