Main thing is to take out the bar inners before you fit them.

I was under the impression that the weights in the bars were to cut down on felt vibration. Mind you I'm no expert ;D
The stubby bar ends that are available are probably around a quarter of the total weight of the original, if that.
Might be worth looking into.

"Mind you I'm no expert" me either. I was aware of the vibration point you make, but mine came without bar ends, only the original internals that get in the way. All that said I have not had a problem with vibrations on either short or long rides. So for me they are just cosmetic.

I bought some "standard" bar ends a little while ago and it wasn't until I got round to fitting them I realised that the Revere had a different set up.
Honda went to some trouble to make the weights (around 5" long). Tapped a hole and made a special spring clip to hold them in. The bars also have to be drilled to secure the clip. The bar ends screw into the weights. They must have had a reason for doing this as it would certainly add cost.
I left my weights in, cleaned the bar ends up, sprayed them and then fastened them back on. Probably to cowardly to leave the weights out to see what would happen ;D
