Any thoughts please, on
1. An odd noise 2. A slipping feeling
An odd noise
On tick over when she is cold if I pull in the clutch leaver I get a Knocking sound from the engine. Tickover is a generally solid 1200 revs.
A slipping feeling
As I have said many times before she goes well and makes me smile, but in the last few weeks when I am excellerating hard I feel a slight grabbing slipping feeling through the bikes general vibrations. If I back off a bit she is fine.
Is it just back off and be nice because she is old? Or start saving for a rear drive of clutch?
Cheers for your thoughts Roger

It might be warped or worn clutch plates. The noise sounds like it's directly linked to the clutch anyway and with mileage you have it may be getting a little tired.
Does it sound any different if the bike is in gear or neutral? Try it (very carefully), with bike on centre stand, engine running, clutch in, then select first or second gear (assuming you have at least one of those!) and let the clutch out. The rear wheel will start turning, so check the area of the back wheel before doing it and stand on the right side of the bike so you can clutch in and apply rear brake
Does the grabbing/slipping sensation vary if the bike is cold or warm?
Clutch isn't too big a drama (provided the plain plates aren't warped). It's a job best done in a workshop and with the aid of a large (ie heavy) friend as the torque on the clutch nut is tremendous and it's loctite fitted at the factory too (I speak from experience!!!). A good solid torque wrench and a length of scaffold pole are invaluable. Unless you obtain a special tool to lock the clutch, large heavy friend sits on the bike, in gear with rear brake on while you dance on the end of the scaffold bar, which in turn is on a socket breaker bar, eventually - you win and the nut turns.
To reassemble, it's a reversal of the above, except use the torque wrench and there is less dancing.
A friendly mechanic with air impact wrench might make it a lot simpler if you have access to same.
The friction plates are circa £46 for a pattern set (try Wemoto) if you need them.

Sound advice as ever, I have some time on Thursday and will test further and post an update.
Cheers Roger
