Just wondered if anybody had a old CDI unit they could donate to see if they can be repaired as I'm sure they will become hard to find in the near future and there are no pattern suppliers of this unit.
Cheers Steve

Not sure as never looked inside one but even if potted it may be possible to remove the potting compound. There does seem to be a good supply of these units secondhand but that might not always be the case.

I tried to fix mine. This is what they look like on the inside: As I couldn't find the problem, I replaced it with a good second-hand one. See my site for the whole story. GvS

Really good to see inside the unit. Because there are two identical coil driver electronics inside fault finding should be fairly easy. I used to work within the electronics industry repairing faulty obsolete circuits boards so I might be able to repair these units. Many thanks for the help so far.

And just an anti vibration and moisture / corrosion sealing resin too. Yes interesting to see inside a unit.

Hi Steve I think my CDI may be faulty - did you have any luck deciding whether they are repairable? Cheers Russ

Hi russ, I haven't had a look at one but I've done a few others from other manufacturers. If your stuck I'll gladly take a look at it.
Cheers
