Looks in reasonable, but not marvellous condition I'm pretty sure it should fit your bike, worth a risk anyway
Good luck

Hi rj Thought maybe Deauville sites might say if any NTV/Revere stuff would fit the deauville, and came across this www.employees.org/~tw/deauville/feb2000.htmQuote "There must be a Haynes manual for the old NTV650, given its popularity with despatch riders. From what Eirik has said, most of the mechanicals are unchanged to the Deauville. So I'd suggest looking for an NTV manual. I know there's one for the Bros - see below." Dates back a bit, which is good as early owners may have been looking to use 2nd hand parts to replace failed units etc. A'la NTV/Revere..Will keep looking, but does seem reasonable that the mechs are the same (give or take ) for the NTV and Revere hard to see reasoning in changing shock just for deauville when really it is just a cc changed NTV/Revere in a skirt... On the same site came across a review of the 'history of the Deauville" which contains some info regarding the 'Revere' Deauville: a brief historyThe faq sheet offers one or two good ideas (not shock related i'm afraid ) Faqs sheet

Just had a thought Willing to stick a £5 in the post if it don't fit (bear in mind the Deauville has 2 rear arms on bike) Might make the cost more bearable if it don't fit + you can still whack it on ebay to a deauville biker. Good for us to know it will or won't work, and at £5 a pop, which will be returned pro-rata come sale ( ) So we all gain from the experience. We know some deauville stuff fits. ;D / or not.. so no one else makes the same error . Anyone else up for a go, in the interest of NTV science ...?... ;D Why not be part of our first United NTV raid.... ;D ;D ( tell your kids in years to come .. You where there when Rj went in.. .. )

Cheers for the advice / an offers ;D I will get it ordered as soon as the chap gets back to me with my question on condition. As I do not want 2 that need servicing.
Looking like it will fit which is a start, and if its ok it keep my bike on the road for the maximum play time (ie I don't have to service the one currently on the bike).
If all goes well I will have one up for grabs that needs serviceing if it would help anybody.
keep you posted.
Kind regards Roger

I have just spoken to the dealer and he sounds like a straight chap. search.stores.ebay.co.uk/JJ-Motorcycle-Accessories__W0QQfcdZ2QQfclZ3QQfrppZ30QQfrtsZ60QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsaselZ124059779QQsofpZ0Looks like it may fit so I will give it a go, he even says he will take it back. Assuming none of you are after a spare. I will keep you posted. May be worth casting an eye over his ebay shop as he has a good range of stuff. ATB Roger P.S. I will keep you posted. I may start a new trend Monkey World let you adopt a monkey. How about adopt a part on Roger's bike. ;D I may need to work on the marketing but I am sure the idea would catch on. lol Cheers.

As a conclusion to my test, the base of a honda Deauville rear shock means it can NOT be fitted to a Honda Revere. This I will be sending it back to the chap I bought it from in the next few days unless any Deauville owners would like a spare. I bought it for £45. HONDA NT NT650V Deauville Rear shock I am still after a Revere rear shock if anyboy has a spare. I am naturally happy to pay beer tokens in return or wine for the lady. such is life.

That's a pity, but at least we're all a little wiser now
I'm guessing you have a few skinned knuckles and a few hours of wasted time to show for the knowledge though!
Pleased to hear that your seller is willing to take the unit back.
I can bring my old unit down for renovation if you know anyone able to do it in "the Sarf". Then you could leave yours on, swap for mine etc etc.
Last time I had one done it was £70/80 or thereabouts. You end up with a good unit and hardly any difference to a new one, but at a fraction of the price.

Cheers Mcf top offer. I will add that to my options list. Actually I had to get my mechanic round this morning to do some running repairs in my front caliper and he pointed out the issue with the shock. So on the whole it was a painless experience. I will post pictures soon. I will check turn around times on shocks but borrowing yours could be a good way of keeping the old girl on the road, and not that we need one but a good excuse to meet up for another coffee She has other issues that may be more pressing which I will post under a new thread which may delay "project shock". Cheers for the offer though. Roger

Roger Roger I'm just packing for a daft o'clock departure in the morning. Probably last journey by car, so I'll dig out the shock (attic in the garage) and pop it in t'car and keep at Gosport.
Probably easier for me to get it to a mechanic chappie while I'm darn sarf, so a good idea anyway.
