Hi all. Well ntv been on the road just over a week now after me passing my test. Not a bad ride for my first big big. Looking to raise the bars up a bit and wanting to know how far you can go before you have probs with cables being to short. Next prob is when moving off the bike goes then i get a clunk as if the gear was not engaged wright. Does not do it at any other time when riding. I have a 600 rear drive with a 650 engine. Is there any probs with this exept maby reving a bit higher. Is the gearing any dif between the 600 and 650 final drives. Thanks for any input given.

Thanks groovy. Must just be one of these things i need to get used too. A while back you put up some pics of a bike you got with panniers still on it. Did you ever use them.

I get the same clutch thing when the bikes warm, where Im slipping it to get away and no matter how slowly I release the clutch, its feels like the last 'bit' goes all in one with a sudden jolt, only way I can get around it is slipping the clutch to get moving, completely disengage the clutch and then let it out again, seems to work better.
It doesn't feel like the gears aren't engaging to me, feels like something is catching in the clutch basket.

my thoughts are probably noched clutch basket now you mention it Dude. i have a spare 600 engine that i'm planning on rebuilding, so i'll be able to inspect the basket of the old one then i believe the notches can be 'fettled'out with a bit of filing. any ideas?

I remember you saying that and it makes a lot of sense to me, can't see why not, and a new clutch wouldn't be too pricey either I think, new plates and a good condition used clutch basket might be a good idea? But its definately a jump in the clutch not the transmission itself, I can ride around it for the time being so its not causing any damage as far as I can forsee

also while you are there check the bush in the middle of the clutch drum they wear you can pull the clutch in while the engine is running and hear the play the super dream had a bearing in the middle of the clutch drum i had a mate look at it and said it was possible to bore the hole and use the bearing the bush is not a spare part you have to have a new basket i think it was £175 or so i just had new bushes made
