hi all, i have been thinking about the upcoming project revere, and i have two trains of thought. #1 is to go for a fairly quick and easy rebuild, especially as most of the work will most likely be outside on the patio this will give me a relatively quick turnaround, and i will get a very usable bike at the end of it. #2 is to go for something a little different. i have a subframe from a bros that could be utilised, and i'm not scared of welding. the problem is, i wouldn't have the first clue where to start something like a subframe mod any and all ideas appreciated. i just fancy doing something a little different this time around. hell, i might even go for a rat inspired desert storm type affair as thatsawkward suggested cheers everyone, Lee

the problem is, i wouldn't have the first clue where to start something like a subframe mod Probably a good reason not to do it then. I am always cautious about people wanting to do extensive modifications to their bikes and cars. What can we possibly know better than a large manufacturer? and then there is the hassle of telling your insurers that you have modified the bike and often, having to go and see the jolly folks at the DVLA for a type test etc. Leave well alone and make a good job of restoration is my advice

I think, keep the bike stripped down and 'minimal' but without chopping too much, you could maybe take off indicator and tail light mounts to clean up the rear subframe, and then find an alternate way of fitting them, and then leaving the frame spars exposed? so just mount 2 small pad seats on an exposed frame (like the BMW GS adventures) and a cool desert storm paint job. then maybe find a way of mounting ammo case panniers onto the frame as well.
You can sort of be selective with the restoration, so sort of negative modification (leaving stuff out) as opposed to positive, of actively removing stuff if that makes sense?
Ill have a few tail sections soon (bros and NTV) incase you want either of them though, which are yours if you want to put them on the bike.
