Hi Has anybody got a spare rack at a sensible price for my NTV650? Don't mind if it is scruffy - just need someting I can get a box onto! I'm in the Leeds/York are. I don't want to pay the near £80 that the renntec sells for - so I was hoping somebody might have a used spare one. Thanks

Just so you know -- theres a lot of information on the internet stating that these renntec racks are innapropriate for top boxes, renntec state that the maximum weight is 2.5kg (!!) and many people have fixed top boxes to renntecs and had the welds snap on them. It's worth checking up on, as a top box on the renntec would have a long overhang, therefore placing a lot of weight on a small section of the rack, and with the leverage that creates can easily snap the welds.
Mine from Groovylee seems great to me, and doesn't look or feel weak but it just may be worth considering. I don't have a top box on mine, just use it to luggage strap a holdall with clothes/sleeping bag to.

Hi Thanks for all the replies! I have been a silent member for a few months. I'm not much good at this posting lark! I ride my bike to work every day and all year come rain or snow! 35 miles each day so not anything to boast about. I have had my first ntv600 for about 6 months - it was a real barn find £100 stood for 7 years! It exploded last week - locked in gear and will not start! Bought a 650ntv to replace it just saturday from ebay on a buy now. I collect it saturday coming (bought unseen on the strength of the advert and seller feedback, gamble, gamble) fingers crossed! Keen to get a sensibly priced used rack so I can carry my gear with me - but also because my two girls feel safer with a back box.

We'll help you get your old revere going again if you like good for a back up bike, or you could modify her for a weekend toy if there's serious problems already? The Givi rack would do you perfect for a top box/back rest combination, best of luck!

Hi Sear I'm guessing that the 600 is pretty bad mechanically - and it was a real mess cosmetically from all its barn years anyway! In my garage now until I get time to start working out what went wrong! I did get it through the MoT last autumn with just some brake work etc - and it served to convince me that I should get a better one. I really like the bike and my mate has had one for a couple of years. I just bought a 650 which I collect at the weekend. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks presentable and sounds pretty good from the description! Ebay seller with good feedback- so I hope it is as genuine as it sounds! Ray

Using my admin access I note you are also a member on our old forum, with similar ostings there last year. The photo's of Outlaws rack mentioned there have been moved so I thought I would upload another copy here. I now own said rack although not currently fitted. Its made from steel tent awning poles. And could easily cary more than 2.5kg. It may be worth making you own while you weight for the ideal rack to buy.

If you could take some more photos at some point to show the fixings to the bike, I'd be very interested in trying to make a copy.

The side strip bolts on first. With the rear plastic removed there is an obvious bolt (rough location indicated by the green arrow) which does not seem to do much and is easily removed to bolt on the strip. The rear plastic can then be refixed before continuing the build. You will need to drill the grab rail as indicated in the next shot. Final shot with the top box plate in position. All credit to Outlaw for the design.

No problem. Life is too short to rush. (When you don't have too ) I could measure the parts, but it will be specific to you top plate (any rate easy to adjust). This is a very simple design, which I like because it brings the load forward. I find the NTV rather tail heavy if the top box has any sort of load.
