Mrs KP wanted some bits'n'bobs from the local Asda, so I thought I'd oblige .... pity the wind kept pushing the front wheel in the 'wrong' direction .... A bridge going nowhere over nothing: Used to be the road bridge between Forfar & Kirriemuir over the railway, then Dr Beeching did his thing, followed some years later by the bypass - but the bridge abides! Not easy to get to: The aroma tells me that's only about 10% mud - best not dab then! One of them Devil's bridges (right-angle turns on and off to trap the Devil, they say) on the road to Edzell: If your bridge porn habit has gone deep into an 'any arch' fetish (ya pervs!), have some Fettercairn: A wee humpy jobby on the way up to the Cairn O'Mount: Clatterin' Brig at the foot of the Cairn O'Mount: This used to be a ford - why on earth would they tarmac it over? Nice view down the valley, though: Be churlish to go this far and not go up - that's the North Sea you can spot between the hills: Arty silhoo ... silly ... shadow shot: Coming back via the coast between Montrose & St Cyrus: While taking that shot I spotted a guy on a pushbike going over the bridge - if he can .... .... then the batteries on the camera gave up, so I went to Asda as planned - 90 miles for a nominal 14 mile round trip - close enough!

Can't beat an extended trip to the shops. Time for new wallpaper me thinks. Tempted to go arty but opted for the great view. So mild, Norfolk will be praying for snow before the 'winter' is out. Looks more like a spring day. Tempted to add wind deflectors to mine. Are they a particular type or do they all generally fit? oops hope thats not off topic. (I will have to moderate my own post ) Back on topic unless I am spotted. Great photos, are you an engineer? Or just interested in bridges? Rj.

Can't beat an extended trip to the shops. Time for new wallpaper me thinks. Tempted to go arty but opted for the great view. *Blush* I am honoured kind sir! Looks more like a spring day. Felt like it too, between 4 and 6 deg C (except up the top of the Cairn - a bit parky there!) Tempted to add wind deflectors to mine. Are they a particular type or do they all generally fit? oops hope thats not off topic. (I will have to moderate my own post ) Those are off a Honda NX650 Dominator, they fit well enough with a bit of cable tie engineering and meant I could ride today in summer weight unlined gloves - these ones: No chilly pinkies at all - in fact I don't even own a pair of winter gloves! Great photos, are you an engineer? Or just interested in bridges? Rj. The bridges thing is a bit of an in-joke on the local bike forum - just about every photo session includes some 'bridge porn' at one point or another. Now it's even been taken up independantly by the 'eccentrics' of RealClassic - link to Bridge Club. When you think about it, something like this gives you a reason to go for a run, and go somewhere different just to bag another bridge/dam/fort/whatever. Stirrings of a challenge for NTV Riders this year?

KP - looks like you had an awesome day and achieved the mission of "stuff from the shops".
You must have been very lucky with with the weather, especially in the land of Haggi at this time of year

My new favourite bridge is that one at Calvine(?), bit N o Pitlochry, just off A9: Rail bridge has road bridge crossing under it, river crosses under that. Lovely!

My new favourite bridge is that one at Calvine(?), bit N o Pitlochry, just off A9: Rail bridge has road bridge crossing under it, river crosses under that. Lovely! Blimey! I'd forgotten about that one, which is strange as my missus does the books for the woman that owns the caravan site just past the bridge .... Tight old bugger of a bend there means they can only get a certain length of (static) van onto the site. Wonder what the weather's doing this weekend? Blairgowrie (bridge) - Bridge o'Cally (bridge, natch) - Moulin Moor (couple of bridges) - Pitlochry (bouncy footbridge and bonus hydro dam) - Tummel Bridge - Killicrankie (leap, not bridge) - Blair Atholl (bridge over the Tilt) - Bruar (falls & Sunday roast) - Calvine (double bridge) - sounds like a plan ......
