Hi ! The NTV stronger sister, my BMW R1100 RS. It is hard to beat this one on build quality, stability and reliability, but the NTV never lost it's beauty an still makes me smile everytime I take it for a ride.

The longest trip I did with the beemer was only about 300 kms, with 40% highway and 60% country roads.
I find it very comfortable. It is heavier than the NTV but much better at higher speeds with better wind protection, less engine noise, less vibration and great torque. It is easily maneuverable at low speeds because it has a low center of gravity. The seat is adjustable in height and the handlebars are adjustable in two dimensions (distance from the driver and grip angle) so we can find the most confortable riding position. Personally I prefer a less leaned forward position for touring.
It comes with ABS, digital fuel gauge, digital oil temp gauge, digital gear indicator and emergency indicators switch, wich are items that are missing on the NTV and are very usefull.
Fuel consumption is at about 5lt/100 km (47 mpg). A full tank makes around 300 kms (187 miles) before hitting reserve.
It came with a set of new Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires and the full BMW luggage set with 2 side cases and 1 top case. Odometer readings are now about 25.000 miles, so it should have plenty of life yet.
I am planning a trip to Cordoba and Barcelona (Spain) with a friend of mine on his Honda Hornet 600, but I guess he will have to take some precautions since the Hornet is not very good for long distance traveling.
