I suspect the advice on this may range. I fitted them to a bike once to hide / protect pitting forks.
Considered fitting them to mine, but my mechanic said they were more important for off road bikes. In addition he felt they would spoil the look of the bike.
Based on that mine is staying naked.
Sorry I can't justify my actions based on technical understanding.

Gaiters will always help your fork stanchions stop rusting and last longer. If you fit them, always ensure that you clean and polish the forks properly first. Some people don't like their look, but as you're an all weather rider, they are effective and certainly a lot better than rusty, pitted stanchions and weeping seals.

It's a pig to take you forks off to fit gaiters, but I've always done it. They might not look pretty, but do what it says on the tin Go on, fit them for £10 or so, you will not regret it

Wemoto sell these shop.wemoto.com/pictures.dyn?k=HL-263511 for £7.48 plus postage. I think they would be the right size, but best you check I think the stanchion (the chromed tube) is 38mm diameter, you will need to measure the distance from top of fork seal to underneath of bottom yoke for length Any decent local dealer should stock them in too

Hiya,
This is something I've been looking at for my NTVs, I do 200 miles a week all year round and want to protect the forks better. I bought some gaiters a while back but they turned out to be a lot bigger than the dimensions stated, sent them back and bought some of those deflector things, they do look better than gaiters.
Has anyone fitted the ones in the link above?
Richard.

Hi Richard presume you mean you bought some of these? www.4-motorcycles.co.uk/acatalog/Fork_Shrouds.htmlCertainly a lot better than nothing, and they do look a lot better than gaiters, but if you really want to protect those stanchions from the worst that english weather and salty roads can do, gaiters are the secret, everytime. I've recently fitted some gaiters to my mighty Pan. Most important to get a size that suits, but once fitted, they're the dog's danglies.
