Can any let me know if it is ok to use dot 5 as i have a new unopened one in the garage in the brakes instead of dot 4 which has been opened for about 6 months in the garage as 1 of my daugthers has bought me a set of bradied brake lines for my birthday, thanks john

I would strongly recommend NOT using the DOT5 in your aNTy. It is a high silicone mix and unless you completely flush your system it will react with the DOT4 and knacker your seals. Manufacturers would recommend that once you open brake fluid, you should use it straight away, once opened it will begin to absorb moisture and reduce its effectiveness. I don't know how long you could store it, perhaps 6 months in dry conditions is OK? But if you're going to treat aNTy to some new braided hoses, why not go the whole way and splash out a few more beer tokens on some fresh fluid?
