Just riden the ntv as it now taxed an tested coming back from work this morning had it up to 90! What should these do with a good engine as I still don't know whether mines ok realy! It's was still accelerating but had to slow down due to traffic at 6am! What do these people do at that time

I'm guessing that you called by a private airfield, or did you mean 90 Km/Hr The estimated top speed was 115mph (185Km/Hr), with a standing quarter mile of 14 seconds and speed at 1/4 mile of 95 mph.

top speed i had out of the revere, was coming back from london, 115 mph with a pillion and luggage, good times. Do we really need much over the ton on a bike like the NTV?
I personally like it for its character and relative low down power and torque.

Mine had a top speed of 183 km/h .. down hill, flat on the tank and wind from behind (that's speed on the GPS, so real km/h...the clocks showed 190) That said...that's back when 1. the carbs weren't synched 2. the valves weren't set and 3. a long time ago (1 and 2 would suggest it could go faster....3 suggests mine won't anymore)

christ, i can't remember, this was on the M4, but i think it does depend on the condition of the engine, i don't think my current NTV would get there, the most i've had out of this one, is just about 100mph down a dual carriageway.
But the last one didn't really struggle to get up to top speed, my current NTV gets a little gutless after 80mph, and will crawl up to 90 and just past. But its good enough for what i need it for. Once your up to speed, the NTV doesn't demand too many revs to keep it ticking over at whatever speed u reach at motorway speed.

well 2 up we have had it cruising at 80mph on the motorway and more was at hand if needed. on a run when i first got it, i took the liberty of checking everything was ok and the bike pushed up to the ton and slightly over quite easily, which quite frankly on an unfaired bike was more than fast enough for me...

Being a complete saddo, I had calculated transmission ratios some time ago in a spreadsheet (attached). I think I did this when my speedo drive packed in and before I got my satnav with speed readout. NTV600 has a slightly different Primary Ratio to the NTV600 therefore the revs/mph are different. Theoretically (assumes 2000mm circumference on back tyre, but you can change this) NTV600 = 8,500 RPM to give 116 mph NTV650 = 8,000 RPM to give 116 mph Attachments:

I think mines still got a few repairs that need fixing before it will do anything like 115!
The exhaust is still blowing which is no doubt reducing bhp output and I still Havent renewed all the plugs or even checked the tyre pressures yet, so that's this weekends work!

That's amazing you could shame slot of 600 sports bikes with those figures or even a ducati 750ss! Is it purely just open pipes no other mods? And is that quick acceleration or just constant and stead acceleration? My triumph only tops out a 120 and that's on the tank position! ;D It will do 13 second 1/4 mile runs though timed by the NSA! Scary on take off though as it likes to spin the back wheel up and fishtail abit

open pipes make a big difference to the engine, mine is running on a straight through viper can and it pulls a lot better.
