Well, I am 90% sure I am buying another bike. Or rather, 100% I am buying, 90% sure which one It's a *insert drum roll* Suzuki V-strom DL 1000 Bit of a change from the old Aunty, but that's not bad is it? www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/bike/vstrom1000gt/k7/ (Mind you, in the Netherlands the GT version doesn't exist....so I have to create it myself) Any advise on what extra's to get? Also, don't worry, the Revere is staying as a 'travel to work' bike....to save on the new one (as I drive way to much kilometers to work....) And the love for the Revere isn't gone at all

Hi Buzzin, Very good choise ! I must admit, that if I had the money I would also buy one of these. But I would buy the 650 cc version. I've riden both the 1000 cc and the 650 cc. There is no large difference in power. (They both have an awfull lot of power compared to the NTV650). But the 1000 cc has a bit of an ON/OFF-effect from the fuel-injection. The 650 doesn't have this. Also the 650 can be purchased with ABS and the 1000 doesn't have this option. If you're going to spend serious money on a bike, then spend it on ABS ! BTW have a look at this site for a nice version of this Suzuki: www.touratech.com/shops/008/index.php?cPath=5&osCsid=2d7dd8c51001450530cfe2ff1c50cd8fGood hunting ! Franklin

Yes, I know the 650 comes with ABS, but being me....I like symmetry....the single exhaust on the 650 is a bit of a turn-off for me... Silly reason really, but hey...if the price is similar I prefer the extra grunt of a 1000 But I still have to make some test drives....perhaps the 1000 won't please me and the 650 will....

The exhaust is behind you ! You won't see it; other people will.
But I agree that the single exhaust looks a bit silly. I happened to be at a Suzuki dealer today and they had a brand new V-strom 650 with the complete luggage set (as shown above).
The right pannier looks OK. But there is a mile-wide gap between the left pannier and the bike. The people from touratech make a larger pannier on the left and a smaller one on the right. That way the "missing exhaust hole" is filled.

Since you're a dutchman, you will probably be able to read this: v-strom.nl/forum/Franklin (I've got to be carefull now, because this begins to look like a Suzuki-forum......)
