About a month ago I finished rebuilding my ntv650, flew it through an mot and started back at work despatching it in london(...and the uk).
When I had the Mot the mileage was reading alittle over 60k, now its over 64k. I must say the last month & 4000miles have been great!!!
After my cb500 being an absolute maintenace nightmare the ntv has been refreshingly simple and reliable. Basically all the reviews have got it right!!!!
I've had one thing go wrong...the bolt that pinches the gear linkage loosened-simple fix on my way into town lol!!
I find the ride very enjoyable, abit cramped on distance trips so I had the seat sponge raised by 3/4inches. Better but not perfect, a 300mile day recently has got me looking down the gel pad route....
The engine is perfect, no oil leaks, no rattles and can happily sit at high speeds on the motorway all day long!
When it comes to the twisties I had my biggest shock-the bike is actually sporty!!! ;D I can really throw this one around, wouldn't be surprised if I put my race leathers on, my knees would be making a few sparks! Plenty of power into and out of the corners and it really does handle on like its on rails!!!
I do have a few questions though, just to ease my mind in a sense:
Firstly my tank range. On an arrage day with city & A road riding I get about 180-185 before I need to switch on reserve, motorway days its more like 200, 203, most ever is 207 before reserve. So is this normal?
Secondly my rear tyre has a 170 ?profile? instead of the standard 150, so I presume this is what makes it a little more sporty round the corners and a little more stable at high speeds but could this be causing a lower mpg and is it necessarily safe?
Finally my bike seems to get hot with city riding quite quickly, well alot quicker then the ice cold cb. I know its running perfect as I balanced the carbs myself and the plugs are tanned with no signs of any colant leakage-apart from the overflow pipe when it does get too hot , so does your bike get hot at low speeds or might I actually have an issue?
I have taken a few pictures now which I will be loading when I get my laptop and win 7 finally organised....
