Evening all, the name's Pete and I'm from Kirriemuir (yes, home of Peter Pan and the late, great Bon Scott) - hence the name. Got my NTV last weekend after doing some horse trading with my old XBR500. It's a '96 (N reg) with 47,000 on the clock, quite tidy apart from some rusty bits on the frame (normal wear'n'tear for the age), oh see for yourselves: As of ½ an hour ago it's got a Givi rack with a Kappa box on - maybe throw up a pic or two later if I remember. Question for the assembled masses: did Honda deliberately try to out-do BMW in the crunchy gearbox stakes with this one? Mostly OK, take your time etc. (had a K100 a while back and a CX650 before that, so my left foot is remembering shaft skills), but trying to get neutral with the engine running ..... strewth! Watch out Chris (Bronskimac), not stalking you, but ......!

Welcome to the forum She does look well kept and I'm sure she'll stick around for a while... Yes...Honda did manage to get most bits right apart from the gearbox. I find it easier to get to neutral from 2nd, from 1st I pretty much always lob it into 2nd anyway Did you get a wingrack, or the tubular frame? (or just a topbox holder?)

Beginning to find my way round the 'box now - tapping down to neutral from 2nd just before stopping works every time. If I come to a standstill in gear it's simpler to kill the engine and then it pops into neutral easily.....strange. The rack is one of those Monorack thingies - I only need it for the box, panniers would be no use to me, they couldn't fit through my back gate (nearly said passage there! Ooer!) No updated pics tonight as I've got the bike naked in the shed - flushed the coolant and popped in some nice bright pink Hellfraud's silicate-free stuff (I remembered from my CX days!). Also stripped, cleaned & copperslipped the front caliper (sliders were sticking a bit) and put a stainless hose on (HEL). Feels better already, and that's without taking it out for a test tonight - probably won't get out until Friday afternoon (finish at 2 every Friday), bet the blimmin' snow is back by then!

Updated pics with the Givi/Kappa on display: Right - it's hovering around zero degrees out there, but it's dry and I've got me thermals - I'm off for a run out somewhere, maybe pics later. Cheery-bye!

Yeah, that looks like the chappie. Fresh update - spot the difference quiz: Before: After: Not much more to report, family matters are getting in the way just now .....
