Before i pull things apart that do not need too
1 / The engine gets hot but no heat in radiator [ should i be looking at water pump or thermostat ]
2 / the tick over is high then it drops and engine stops [ should the slides need a clean, air filter done 3,000 miles
3 / it starts with no choke from cold [ put a fresh choke cable on this stopped popping back ]

You're right....check the thermostat and the pump, and of course check for blockage in the rad/pipes. I assume you know that the coolant needs filling from the top, not from the reservoir on the side....(can't be said enough though) Can't help much more than that I'm afraid.

My thoughts for your problems:
1. Check your coolant level - it might be very low. If so, you will need to remove petrol tank and air filter to access the filler cap which Buzzin refers to. If the coolant is low, fill it right up, then make sure the expansion tank level is correct. Then keep an eye on it whenever you have aNTy out for a run, in particular, once you're up to temperature, see if it overboils when you stop anywhere. I had a similar problem and it traced back to blown head gaskets, this allowed pressure to build up in the cooling system, which then pushed coolant into the expansion tank at high temperature, further pressure (engine gases leak from the combustion chamber into the colling system) forces the expansion tank to expel hot water via the outlet hose just in front of the back wheel.
2. Have you checked the carburretor balance? It may be worth checking the slides, but more importantly, the condition of the diaphragm rubbers, then internal cleanliness of the carbs, needles, float chamber etc. This problem could be linked to 3.
3. Sounds like a rich mixture. Not much you can do to adjust the carb running mixture, but it could be the choke is partially operating, check cable run and correct installation of the choke needles in the carb. This problem could be linked to 2.

Good feedback and excellent news
I always ended up splitting my airbox in order to get it back on the carbs properly, then I could ensure the rubbers were properly seated around the carb inlets. I cursed the first time I removed the screws - they were in tight and corroded. Ran a die down them to clean the threads and used a smear of my old favourite - Coppa slip.
Be careful not to polish the black finish off your carb slides - I thought this was carbon deposit - it's meant to be there!
Was the diaphragm in good condition? I hope so!
A pain to do, but worth the time - take everything off again and look at your coolant level - hopefully it will be still full.
Very pleased you're getting lots of fun from your aNTy.

Yes when scotland is wet it not a nice place to be
I started the event at Kelso where I met my son at 10-oo on sat morning you can follow this on a map
Berwick on Tweed Musselburgh Maddiston { nr Falkirk } over the Forth road Bridge Leven Perth Blairgowrie Dalwhinnie this was to be a refueling point but we got there 10 mins after the garage had closed the next point was Stirling vir Kinloch Rannoch - Killin - Callander - Stirling now by the time we got to Killing I was very low so I was glad to see Callander we got there for 21-20 garage closed at 21-00 by this time there was only a smell of petrol left so we presed on and got a garage open in Stirling the tank needed 18-75 Lta then it was onto the finish at 23-45 Nr Crianlarich then came home on Sunday like i said blue sky's most of the time.
