My clutch cable broke some time ago, and my temporary repairs using a bike braking cable usually broke within 1 kkm, after the second time I decided enough is enough and I bought an entiren new clutch cable from wemoto.
So, now I've installed it and I have a problem - in order for it to work at all I had to screw the lower adjuster all the way out, so I have no more regulation space. This makes me think that perhaps my routing is wrong, could somebody please make a photo of how is the Revere clutch cable routed through the headstock? Haynes book of lies only says that "you should pay attention to how the cable is routed when removing it", and Honda OEM manual has some diagrams that are completely unhelpful, so a photo would be nice. :-)

doesn't sound like a routing problem, these usually make the clutch stiff to operate or pull when you turn the bars. Try just laying the cable in without routing it, IE pass it straight from the lever cross in front of the frame and connect to the actuating lever then try it and see if it works, this is just to check the cable . Routing shouldn't make any difference as it doesn't alter the length of the inner and outer cables, you seem to have a cable with too long an inner cable, you should have an adjuster at both ends of the cable on a Revere. You've probably thought of all this anyway so if you post the measurements of the cable I'll measure mine to do a comparison. Mick.

ow boy....I hope the cable from wemoto is ok, as I have just ordered it yesterday This is what Wemoto say they are sending me: Cable Length: Inner - 103cm Outer - 88cm No idea if that should be ok....

I do have the Honda manual, however the diagrams seem a bit unclear. Anyway, the cable is working so far, I had to set the lower adjuster about 2 thread pitches from the end, and then the upper adjuster has lot of space, I even initially set so that there was not enough freeplay, I had to screw it in by almost completely.
Still, the previous cable was mounted at the middle of the lower adjuster.

Was looking at my Revere this morning and it struck me that it would be possible to mount the bracket at the lower end back to front, this would result in the sort of problem you have.
Mick.

That might have been possible if the previous owner had the wrong clutch cable and turned the bracket plate around to resolve the problem. It is worth looking at, so here is a copy of the image lifted from the Haynes Manual the bracket should be mounted on the bolt at the bottom of the V in the cylinders, with the "tail" pointing to the rear, the open part of the "loop" for the cable, should be innermost. did you keep the old cable? If so, have you compared the lengths of new and old? Good luck with it

Yes, that's it! Thank you very much! :-) The bracket was mounted backwards, which explains everything. :-))
I kept the old cable, and the length of the outer cable matches, but I couldn't compare the length of the inner cable, since it was a makeshift one made from a bike braking line, and it broke :-)
