Hi there.
Sorry, new here but have been sniffing round for years ( looking at pics of the olive green 650 with the chopped rear subframe and new seat)
anyway, Ive made a few monumental effups while restoring / killing my bike and now I am at a bit of an impasse....
as the subject say. only turns over when the emergency stop button is on... when I set it to RUN, it wont turn over. I have had a look at the wires and they all seem to be right, does anyone now why this is?
Thanks in advance for your help o great sages equal of heaven....
Dan

Did you do any electrical work or anything that involved moving the wiring anywhere? When it turns over does it start?

I am putting it back together. That issue was a snapped wire in the back of the ignition.... fixed that. Now I'm at the point of turning over and sparking... but no bag. FML I shouldn't have been so enthusiastic.... got a wire diagram and a brain capable of understanding it? Looks like the loom has been farted around with in the past too..

I would just buy a new loom on Ebay tbh, or you could be there forever.
First, disconnect the cable from the handlebar switchgear and just check it with a multimeter to make sure it ok.

OMG! could it be that there are no wires connected to the clutch side controls and no light bulbs in?... sorry for such lame questions. welding, I can do, painting I can do, engine rebuilds... I can do slowly... electrics make me cry.

The light bulbs wouldn't affect it but the clutch switch might

Funny how people post so quickly and are so nice when they want something but then disappear.

thank you again for your help. I am staring a build / evidence thread I think.

What was the problem mate as Iam in the same position just brought a project that's had a 650 engine put in but I carnt even get it to turn over Hi there. For me it was the wires coming from the clock and clutch control side. I knocked them and. They fell off so I'm in the same. Position again. I'm going to get it sorted tomorrow night so will pop up what it was. I think it was a spliced earth cable on the clutch controls tho and the wires to the coils were in the wrong way. Check the fuses and the ine in the battery.
