Hullo all! I've just bought a 1997 NTV650: Despite its clean looks it's actually in a pretty poor state of repair and will need lots of TLC (tyres, brakes and carbs, for a start); as I'm not particularly gifted, mechanically-speaking, I'll probs. wind up having to ask a few "help me"-style questions on here, I'm afraid! I bought it from Cardross, near Glasgow, and am currently in the process of riding it back to my home in Cheam, Surrey over the course of this week, visiting friends and so forth en route. Previous bikes I've owned: '12 BMW F-800 ST '12 Moto Guzzi V7 '98 Kawasaki EN500 '00(ish) Kawasaki ER-5 '87 Honda VFR400 (NC24) '00(ish) Suzuki EN125 I guess it's pretty obvious from that list the point at which I stopped being a student - well, now I'm a student again, and my hope is that (once I've sorted out the issues the bike has) it'll be a practical year-round workhorse - and pretty fun, to boot! Riding it over the Yorkshire Dales today was (despite it's current tendency to tank-slap, dangerously long stopping distances and plug-blackeningly rich fuelling) actually a really satisfying and enjoyable ride! Looking forward to taking it through Wales and down to Bristol tomorrow..

Hello. Check the front wheel balance if it's slapping a bit.
