Hi guys, Hope this is the right place to post this.
I recently became the Proud owner of my second Deauville nt650 (53 Plate). I have been riding around locally after fully servicing it and replaced the old rusted Exhaust with a new Motad system.
This morning was it's first long run to London. Now when I left home it was around minus 3 to minus 4 degrees and very icy. I joined the dual carriageway and off I went doing around 60-70mph. The bike performed great no issues.....BUT when I got to the main roundabout joining the M25 after around 25 miles, on deceleration she lost all power started to splutter then died. I managed to coast the bike onto the pavement. I tried to restart her but with No joy. I had a Full tank of petrol, but still turned to petrol control knob to reserve to see if this made any difference which it didn't. I tried cranking it over again still nothing. I left the bike for about 2 minutes with everything off, and then re-tried to start it this time she spluttered back into life as if nothing had happened.
I made it to work with no other incidents, but did ride the bike cautiously just in case the fault repeated itself.
After work 8 hours later, I got on the bike and rode it home. It was no where near as cold on the way home and in places I rode it like I stole it!! The bike rode like new.
My question is does the Deauville suffer from carb icing? could it be that when I stopped and left the bike for a minute the heat from the engine assisted the carbs to Thaw for want of a better word, has anyone else had any similar problems like this?
Could it be the coils....but then surely both would have to pack up for it not to run. Petrol pump....but my understanding is that the pump only assists the reserve setting is the correct?
Guys Please any help on this matter would be Greatly received.
Thanking you all in advance.
