I am sticking on miles very quick on the NTV and would like to pick you brains, at the moment I have 71000km and doing about 4000 a month. So what can I expect to need replacing and change before, It takes me three weeks to get things. All routine maintenance is up to date and I do oil changes once a month with Mobil 1, air filter is changes when it looks dirty, all other fluids get changed about every 6 months.
Fuel pump will be having new contacts soon All cables are new Plugs are new Head bearings, fork seals done recently
At home I have a spare CDI unit, levers. Next order will include new front wheel bearings as a preventative. I will shortly get a spare rear coil. The regulator has already been changed. Stator and rotor are too heavy to get as a spare otherwise I would. Carbs have been opened checked and cleaned, but as of now the float valves, diaphragms are all original and showing no reason for concern. So what else can I expect for the gearbox or drive train?

I'm not doing your sort of mileage (only around 12000km/year), but I find it's the attrition of riding year round on poor roads that causes maintenance issues, rather than the mileage itself. In the UK things corroding causes me trouble (rusting frame/corroding engine/rotting exhaust/electrical connector and switch faults/seals failing/splitting seat cover etc) and the poor surfaces of the roads I ride on mean I get through tyres, fork seals & front wheel bearings. Touch wood, I've not had problems with the engine/clutch/gearbox/final drive so far, it's all the bits around it that cause trouble! Hope you don't have any major problems racking up the miles and you can enjoy them - the scenery certainly looks stunning from some of your other posts

I used to courier on them and apart from normal maintenance items the only thing that I ever needed to do to is change the clutch, cables (clutch and both throttle)and the headrace bearings which I did about once a year - it's a heavy bike and on the front brake all the time is puts a lot of stress on them.
I used to ride them to about 100k then the back shock would loose damping and I'd buy another NTV. I've done about 1/4 million miles on NTV's now and they are truly bulletproof. I honestly never had any problem with them.
I agree with gills that corrosion would probably be the biggest problem but my 'cleaning' involved a plain water jetwash then spraying WD40 over everything apart from the tank, seat and calipers! It did congeal down to a horrible gunge but I'm rebuilding it now and when the gunge comes off it's still lovely underneath.
I would suggest you keep a spare set of handlebars and levers if you come off and maybe a radiator.

I too used to be a despatch rider many moons ago on GTs, VTs, CXs and a revere or two, before going Bavarian. I have spare levers in the tail piece and will be getting spare clutch lever attach and hopefully a master cylinder soon too. I coat the bike with WD already. I am most keen to identify any mechanical weaknesses with this engine, but apart from the fuel pump there seems little else, clutch and so on are routine maintenance. I am in the process of changing all the fuel lines as they're original. After one month I am still enjoying the ride for the scenery and the road, but my enthusiasm renders rubber rather sad....
