Well it has taken a while to get this bike back on the road (1991 Revere 600 bought in 2012). Mainly due to other sh*t and money but finally MOT'd and taxed and went of for my first ride last night... Well in the space of two and a half hours I covered over a 100 miles. Never have I enjoyed a ride out so much. The bike just ticked all the boxes. The engine was a lot smoother than I expected and the induction and exhaust noise was infectious. I kept letting it drop to about 2,500 and give it some welly.
It handles very well for what is just a commuter bike only issue is the front is very soft (even after a complete rebuild) and the front brake is also very weedy (new pads ordered as soon as I got home!). Just a shame it doesn't have a higher top ratio as it feels like it could quite easily pull another gear. The engine seems to be very high revving at about 90MPH.
This bike was a little project of mine and all the panel work and tank is wrapped in carbon fibre wrap (I'm a signmaker/wrapper)and the engine and wheels painted satin black with a silver frame. Sadly I wanted the frame blasted but no matter how much I tried the lower through frame bolt would not come out and I reckoned I would have to destroy the engine case so I left it all together. It is a bit rough in places as so many of these bikes were used as a winter hack / commuter bike but came out very well. Still need another exhaust as the Motad silencer has been plated to the max!
Will post picture of the finished item maybe at the weekend.
