Lots of work Franklin, it looks good.
My only thought is how waterproof is the front of the unit?
Is it worth adding a sheet of perspex to shelter the front from direct rain, allowing you to reach under to use the touch screen.
great idea and great post with lots of pics.
Rog.

Hey Franklin. Very inventive and some nice touches... Clear screen...Mmhh wonder if the kind of material that slips over the tills in bars might be a good option, give added protection and still keep keys/screen touchable? Maybe just cling film it first to see if it works might be start? (have to leave some free space for heat flow etc...)

On a previous set-up I noticed that it's rather difficult to see the screen, because of the light. That's why I now built it into a house, which should keep the screen in the shade most of the time.
Rainprotection: I do have a bit of clear plastic, which I can fit into the house (with velcro again). But then I can't touch the screen. And also I'm afraid that the visibility of the screen will be reduced.
Tomorrow I'm going to try it for the first time.
I'll keep you informed !
Franklin

I've always wanted satnav on my bike. I got hold of a garmin 2620 like they have fitted to beemers but it was huge so I sold it on. As for the prices of contemporary systems I refuse to pay over 300 pounds for a bit of waterproofing. So I got the following unit from ebuyer: Navigo which you can put other nav software on; I've got miomap europe wide installed. You can get bicycle clamps from ebay which I did: BracketHere it is on the bike: I then fitted a relay with a 12v cigarette socket on a lead which lives in the tool storage tray (toolkit was missing and I'm in the AA for my camper ) I always use a tankbag so it just comes up into there where I plug the satnav power lead into it and off I go On my CBR I use it with headphones and the music player really helps with the boring motorway bits! If it rains I bag it with a tie wrap - you can buy a few of those with the £100's you save! Cheers Will
