Hello!, I am new to the forum. I ride a '90 NTV600 which currently is just about to turn 40,000 miles. I am looking to replace the silencer as it is starting to rust, however the motad silencer mutes the lovely V-twin sound. Does anyone know of an alternative? ;D

Hi paulie Sorry i cant help with suggestions, possibly some others will have a better idea what silencers would be appropriate. Would have suggested 'search' but have already done that for 'silencer' and 'Motad' and got very little i am afraid. You could still try it with other word variations, you might be luckier than me... Sure help will arrive soon.

Hi Paulie your options are a little limited without breaking new ground.
I have stuck to original specs, but seen a lot of posts for alternate ideas involving silencers from other bikes, usually involving welding to complete adaptations.
As soon as you drift from original specs, you start changing the exhaust back pressure which in turn could mean you have to start experimenting with rejetting your carbs.
I'm rather pushed for time so apologies for a short post, I'll try and add some more detail later, but cannot promise when.
In the meantime, please keep us notified of any progress you're making. McF

Hi
I found this guy on E/bay, it seems he makes exhausts for NTVs etc, had a gr8 deal off him last november £40 for a silencer,. He makes the 2 into 1 adaper and adds a silencer. 1337brett

Would they pass an MOT almost looks like she has no back box. Noise? Emissions?
That said more of the twin sound would be good

I doubt they would pass at most mot centres depends how friendly they are haha!! they are certainly loud as in harley loud but a more aggressive sound. emissions arent tested on bikes yet so no worries there.

I've just ordered a pair of the shorty silencers as my MOT guys couldnt be more friendly I live in a street full of wrinklies so if they are loud they'll wet the bed!
