Well I'm putting time aside tomorrow to look at a few little things that have been bugging me and see how the clip ons feel
One thing that is bugging me other than my front brake rubbing at times adn when turning is my rear end making a clicking noise when turning or in the first few minutes if slow getting out of car park riding -
I've had a quick look and there is nothing obvious. The rear caliper has a bit of movement but I think this is normal. It all started happening after giving a friend a lift on it. I put and have kept my preload at max. Has anyone had this issue before?
I'll be doing my pads at some point and need a new front disc. I'm also wondering the front problem could be the new fork -
Also is it possible to remove the back wheel by celeverly (or not so) propping hte bike up with a jack?

Cant help with clicking.
But re

Assuming you have a centre stand use it then the wheel can be removed.
If you have the longer motad exhaust unbolt the brake calliper then the wheel can lift and rotate round the swing arm. With the motad and caliper in place you will scratch your wheel for sure.
Good luck.

No stand on this model - makes things tricky as hell re tyres and forks etc - needs new rubber and I'm buggered If I'm paying extra for them to undo a bolt for me

Link - rear wheel off ground bike in gear, rotate wheel forwards & back, there will be some free play, how much is acceptable is another matter.
Wheel bearing - rear wheel off ground, right hand at front of wheel left hand at rear of wheel, see if wheel will pivot about the hub, turn wheel & try at different positions. Turning wheel see if it feels "notchy".

Trick is to weight the front wheel down so only the rear can move upward.

put the bike on the pavement with the back wheel in the road, push the bike up on the sidestand a few inch's and use some wood to prop up the other side under the engine.. carefull it dont drop of the stand (a bungee on the front brake lever can help) having a pal to help and steady stuff is handy.. failing that, turn off the petrol and lie it down on some grass on it's left side is what i did on many of my trail bikes (and ntv)

So the wheel turns smooth and doesn't feel notchy or anything
It seems the clicking is coming from where the shaft starts by the foot rest. It's worse when the clutch is in and when turngin at low speed. I'm just gonna have to investigate the thing until I find the problem or put up with it!

It`ll very likely be the carden joint (universal joint) giving up the ghost then.

Is that something I can establish easily? Easy repair?
