I think very good sums it up. Looking forward to seeing the final result.
Once you have the skill to do it. It does seem like a good way to change a bike colour.
Have you done this before on a motorbike. (Looking in the back of your shots you seem to be into art/craft.) My question relates more specifically to how long you think it will last.

I haven't had a chance to get my mitts on a bike wrap before (have done cars) and I think starting on mine was a good idea because it gave me a good chance and finding out how long it would take and how much material I would have needed. It should last for at LEAST three years providing I look after it (which I will) Not sure how to attack the tank yet, though, as the NTV sticker has been lacquered over, and is likely to show through the wrap on top :S I'll think of something!

3 years would be ok. How much do you you see it costing for the full bike?
My bike has done almost 100k miles and it was the side panels that showed it the most. Had I have seen this it would have been cheaper to wrap them.

It would depend on what colour you wanted (bearing in mind I doubt we can match the colour of your bike exactly), and if you wanted any designs printed onto it

Thanks, yeah it really tested my patience but I persevered! Was so close to just stripping it and painting it instead, but it's really rewarding when it's all done!

Hi Miss Phoenixx,
Reading this thread through I have to congratulate you on your patience and expertise. Your finished job certainly looks very well and also very professional.
Do you think it's a viable alternative to a respray ? Have you any idea how much such a job would cost as a commercial venture ?
ATB Ray.

Thankyou very much Ray It could be a viable alternative to a respray, yes. It is a brilliant way of preserving your paintwork underneath and also a non-permenant way to enhance the look of your bike as anything you like and any colour can be printed onto it. It would roughly cost the same amount as a paint job, but like I said, you preserve the original paint, which is really the reason I did it. The vinyl should last around three years, perhaps more if it is looked after correctly, but I've never wrapped a bike before, and I found the vinyl is put under a lot of stress, which means it might not last as long. I suppose I'll have to wait and see! From a working point of view, there would be no point in doing this for a living, as the profit margins are so small. Because of the time it takes and the amount of material, if you charged what it would actually cost, nobody would want to pay it. It's all about the love of it! But I don't think I'll do it again. Unless on my bike if I crash it!
