Ok, this is the Re-Vile we're talking about.
The fan does work, we've been through the usual means of testing the fan by earthing it, it definitely does work.. however, when the engine gets hot, it doesn't come on.
We thought it was the sender.. so we changed it for Finger's one, which worked fine on Fingers, but it still doesn't work..
Any ideas on what to try next?
Cheers!

have you tested the cabling from the sensor to wherever it goes? sorry don't have wiring diagram to hand. to my mind, if the sender is good, and the fan is good, the only culprit left can be the wiring???

I'd have thought so, too, but the wires were tested on the sender end of it, so I don't think it's that.
Apparently it was taken into a garage with this issue, and they couldn't figure it out either :S

How are these things grounded? could it be a bad ground connection? (e.g. painted over before refitting?) Have you measured the sender once the engine is warm? (is that possible...I don't know where it is on the NTV :/ ) My points to check would be: - CHeck the system: pressure cap, thermostat, level of coolant. - Check radiator is getting warm, if not is there circulation? - Check sensor, does it work, is the resistance correct when warm/cold? - Hoses....any damage on them? And failing that....I call Mustafa (they guy that fixes my car)....but that won't do you any good unfortunately

The engine needs to get very hot for the fan to kick in (93-97 celcius) I'd be very surprised at present if conditions had got near that temperature
The temperature gauge is independent of the fan switch. If the gauge shows the engine is hot and the fan isn't coming on you should also suspect the temperature gauge of "lying" to you
I've just checked the wiring diagrams to confirm this and see that the NT650 doesn't have a gauge only an LED warning light, presumably for engine too hot?

Just looked at the wiring diagram...
What's the earth point like? (Switch to earth?)
I'm assuming in the above test; You earthed out the fan?
Might be worth repeating above test... But earthing the 'earth' side of switch?
Does that make sense??? Always better when you can see it... Apologies if it's a waste of time.

ive now got the fan to work........... it was an earth problem..BUT somebody had mounted the radiator using plastic fairing bolts..WTF
fan now comes on just before it hits the red...(on the revere clocks)
i would like it to come on at about 3/4 mark...........can i change it to one with a lower temp
OH i had checked all the earth connections & cleaned everything up BUT failed to notice the plastic bolts..DOH
