took bike to MOT friday.....FAIL..
Headlamp frame loose..despite bodging still needs new frame thing.
Right fork seal leaking..(had both done last year) light mark of oil, obviously too much so needs to be redone.
Rear tyre, has cut beyond acceptable, so need new/newish tyre
Front disc worn beyond acceptable...needs new disc.
and various other little defects that i was and could live with, but that i can fix reasonably easily. ;D
However the bigger stuff.....................
Might be slightly biased (yamaha dealer ) but the advice was not to bother it would cost too much.
Bike off road at my niece's, Cant tax it because of no MOT.
Now the questions begin.
Do I;
Fix it and ride it again. ?
break it and make a few bob. ?
Sell it whole as 'project' 'No MOT but an easy repair." ?
But can i afford to fix it?
Disc £50 new
Tyre £80+
Fork seal £50+
plus various bits and pieces
=poss £220+
Have no garage only roadside space, niece has garden but is 6 miles away.
Not easy to get to fix bike with work etc.
It can be done DIY, Ebay and time makes it possible.
But i want to be back on road asap.
Funds are as always limited, but would another bike with mot be cheaper in the long run? mmmhhh
As an aside, bike got me into the Biking scene love the feeling of the freedom and the forum is something i would not want to give up, but if the next bike wasn't a NTV/Revere would it still be practical for me to post in?
Opinions anyone? all thoughts welcome..
Ps sorry to all but obviously i can't make any of the rideouts i expected to....AAGGHHHH!!!
(pissed off big time, but now calmly reflecting on the way forward. ;D )
