-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's another for you-if you are a tightwad like me.
It happened to me, and I've heard it mentioned by others. When the motor has got some mileage on it the neutral light can start to flicker and come on intermittently.
I took the sender unit out and, using a depth gauge, discovered that the spring loaded brass plunger had worn so it no longer contacted the gearchange plate that 'wipes' the plunger to make the electrical contact.
All I did was take off the fibre washer from the sender unit, replace it with a dab of sealant and screw it back in. This brought the plunger into spring loaded contact again and it's been ok since.
- at least until the plunger wears again.

Wow so it really does do that? I thought I was just seeing things when I saw it flicker on and off dead quick out the corner of my eye. Nice to know I'm not going funny!!
