I would say be careful. These are the things insurance companies like to find when you make a claim following an accident. If you were to declare the change before hand, I'm not sure the insurance company would accept it, unless there is proven evidence that it would have no effect on handling.

Good link Jaz Lights / Indicators, Sissy Bars (Long Back Rest), Crash Bars, Radiator Bars, Tank Pads, Heated Grips, Scott Oilers Seat Cowl, Crash Bobbins/Protectors, Change of Screen Huggers.. While they say non of these are issues.. " If you have a Bennetts policy and have not disclosed any of the above modifications to us already you do not need to call in now, just make sure you let us know when you are renewing your policy. " and just in case you were thinking of carrying anything on your bike!! ;D " How about panniers, surely they’re not classed as performance enhancing?!Panniers (or luggage) do affect the performance of a bike, or to be more accurate, its stability plus its size. To reiterate, it’s important to state as much detail about your bike and its modifications and accessories as possible. They may not affect the price of your policy. "
