Is it possible to add some 'words' to the spellchecker? I seem to be getting pulled by the spelling Police all the time for silly stuff like lol or NTV. Surely we must be able to add some 'words', especially NTV! Is this possible? I know these are not real words, but they are used frequently. Look it's now picked me up on them again.lol And again must stop using lol on this NTV site. It's done it again. lol. I'm nut ewesing the spincheeker enymore. eye dint rally nod ti enyway.

I only use the spell check once I have finished typing the message and then only if I'm not sure about one of my spellings, do I take it that there is a way of using the spell checker whilst one is typing the message. Mick.

Another option you could use (as I do) is a spell checker in your browser. The moment I type a word wrong in any form on internet it underlines it with red. The one in your browser can learn words you want to use Only problem for me is....it only knows US english (Opera beta is only available in US language) so I have to be very aware of the slight differences between British and American. Also it doesn't help much when I type Dutch or German

Can you get a spell checker for internet explorer, like you have in MS word? It would solve a lot of problems. How do you activate that?

While we're on the subject of words. Could some one please translate / explain the following words for me. I have not yet been able to find them in a dictionary.
Lmfoa (by Hubcap in “NTV Spot a star”) Lmfto (by Hubcap in “Rubbish joke”) OIC (by Hubcap in “The history of Hubcap & the fridge”) ROFL (by Hubcap in “The history of Hubcap & the fridge”)
Or perhaps Hubcap is communicating in a different language ?
Thanks in advance

ROFL is easy Rolling On the Floor Laughing The first two I would guess are Laughing My F**** ss off (but a typo) and I can only guess the T stands for something women have and men don't.... OIC = Ow I See, right? And yes, it's a different language. First used when characters were costly, then eagerly used and even further mangled by the SMS/Text generation Geeezz I feel old still remembering the upcomming of l33t speak @|_5 ,|3 |>¡+ |<[_]|\|+ 1323[\], ]3ə(\) ,|3 0()|< L33T (ugh, that took way too long...and it's in Dutch ) Compare it to the dutch: ff = even, and mzl! = de mazzel! etc.

I started responding on the basis that andy could not type lol or NTV. hence my test thread. was it just a translation issue? I tend to cut and past long text blocks into word and spell/grammar check there. Then past back. roger

I know you can spell check with Firefox and some other browser, windows should have caught up by now and added a spell check into internet explorer too. If it hasn't though, either download firefox, 'cos it's just better than IE. Or use MSWord or similar to spell check.
Franklin, Buzzin has the translations perfect, and it is LMFAO not LMFOA as I typo'd it ;D

Well, I dunno. I didn't even realise that there was a spellchecker for posts on this site until this thread started, but now it's been mentioned, there it is at the bottom! I suppose being older might have something to do with it, and being a Grammar School Twit, but I have always enjoyed words, and spelling came easily to me even in Primary school. I do my own spell check with the Mark One Eyeball and somehow errors just jump out at me. Having said that my post will now probably bee ful ov speling mysteaks and yping terrors. Although I do text, I find txt spk painful and it takes me ages to text even without abbreviations. Not much help to the original poster, though!

Well done micawber. Didn't look past the end of my nose, lol. That will be handy with my spelling. I went to an ex grammar school but the old boys must have taken all the spelling with them when they left. For a second I thought you were onto something and I added lol and lol to the dictionary the admin team manage to stop bad language. The bad news is the spell check option ignores this and still pulls up lol and lol offering Lil! Oh well at least I now know where the Spell Check button is!

Thanks Buzzin for the translations. It's a bit odd to get english text explanations from a fellow dutchman.
Maar de rest van de tekst snap ik geen bal van...... (Waarschijnlijk ben ik inmiddels te oud hiervoor).
Groeten !
