hi all, does anyone know if there is a relay for the brake lights? i've got no brake lights off either front or foot lever and the bulbs are good and i cant see any fuses blown. i've only just got the bike running after being abandoned for 6 months but before that it was riddden daily. i cant imagine the previous owner riding with no brake lights (i hope). what are the chances of both switches being fcuked otherwise?

test the swithes easy first.........pull both wires off the front switch & join together........brake light should come on
if it does replace the switch...........& do the same with the rear
ive had to replace both of mine in the last 2 weeks.........switches dont like road salt

Not trying to show off what a cheapskate I am, Honest, BUT....... The brake-light micro-switches on my revived-scrapper were u/s on arrival I removed the levers, applied a drop of ACF50, and flicked them repeatedly with a bit of 10mm alloy bar, to get the tiny pistons to punch through the crud on each spring-back stroke Worked OK since (oooooh, tempting fate!!, all present PLEASE cross fingers) All the best Ed

Yep, the switches are notoriously unreliable.
As described, give them a good clean up, then I'd pack them with vaseline, or better still, silicon grease
They aren't especially expensive, but that's not the point!
Ed, here's hoping yours last out a bit longer

hi all,
it sounds like you have all had really bad luck when it comes to these switches,
i have had my old girl for 6yrs now and up until this year she was ridden all year round it all weathers, i have not had a problem with the switches at all.
I have found the cooling fan mount and earth to be a very boring repetitive fault but that is about all. that is now sorted though.
ed p.s. of course having said this they will now both bugger up but hey ho its part of the fun.
