Ok, a bit late to post, but yesterday I was completely worn out.
Not even so much by the long drive home....but by heat stroke....I pretty much collapsed once I got home :/
But it was all worth it
I had a great time riding up to the UK with GvS and then meeting up with Rj2para to go to the first campsite.....which will not get a recommendation for it's facilities, but the food and drink was good.
The ride to the UK was slightly wet, but nothing compared to the downpour during the night...
Fortunately the weather improved from that point on and we had a good and nice ride towards loomies with some nice photo stops
At loomies we met Skyhook and Jan (yes yes, I DO remember
), had a nice cup of coffee, I'm still not british after all...
After and 'quick' drive to beaulieu we stopped to see if Hooland wood would let us in....they did and we set up camp after driving the long way round the site....
A quick run into town and some food later we ended up at the campsite having a nice evening 'in'.
THe next morning we all got up too early so we had time for breakfast in town....which we eventually reached after our great leader missed the turn-off
(don't worry, we didn't mind)
After breakfast we set off to the ride-in and ariving just in time to still park on the asfalt, the groups after us had to park on the grass.
While still right next to the bikes Outlaw arrived to find a very helpful person....realizing after a few seconds it was rj
After a quick call vtwinfan and misses found us, so we walked over to the stunt team. I still wonder how they practice....I can only hope they get something equal to 'frequent flyer miles' for hospital......
Then after a looong walk McF joined us and we had a wonder round the stalls.
Found two NTV's at the MAG stand (I think the same two as last time)
After a while me and GvS had to leave, but with all the preparing and getting dressed Rj had left before us
We overtook him pretty soon as he had a little stop beside the road.
After a very long, hot and reasonably boring ride on the british motorways we reached the Drum Inn near Dover. The facilities here we great, and the pub was very good.
After perhaps half a pint to much early to bed and early to rise.
A quick dash to dover before we fuelled up at the same station as we stopped on day 1. This time we managed to enter the filling station the correct way....using the entrance, not the exit.
After pulling in to the docks we got selected to be inspected by customs. The rather grumpy lady asked a few questions to GvS, which he couldn't hear....after repeating it again she was so annoyed she told us to leave
The ride on the continent was ok, just incredibly hot. We tried to stop often enough for drinks and rest, but it was always going to be a battle to get home...
After saying goodbye to GvS at our stop just across the Dutch border I 'raced' home....hitting a traffic jam minutes after departing
After a longer drive home than I had hoped I finally reached home....to crawl of the bike and straight under a cold shower and in to bed....feeling satisfied
Hope to meet all of you again, perhaps this time on our side of the channel.
