Recently I purchased a centre stand (with pin & spring) from a second-hand website. My NTV never had a centre stand ("cheapo version"). Have a look at my site: www.stoeretassen.nl/My_NTV650/Middenbok/Centre_stand.htmToday I tried to fit the centre stand, but I couldn't. It looks as if the pin has to be fitted from the right-hand (exhaust) side. On the left-hand side the bracket on which the side-stand safety switch is fitted is in the way. And this bracket is welded to the chassis. Can someone please verify that the pin is fitted / removed from the exhaust side ? This means that I will have to remove the exhaust before I will be able to fit the centre stand (my NTV has the later version (longer) muffler). Any other suggestions / tips ? Because I really do not want to remove this exhaust: it's fine now and I don't want to break anything. Ride safely ! Franklin

I'm pretty sure the pin can only be fitted from the right hand side with the exhaust off.
I won't be able to look at my frame, stand and pin to see if there are any other solutions, eg fitting two bolts instead of the pin until later in Feb.
Sorry!

As far as my memory let's me recollect things like this, I think you are right, and the exhaust needs to come off for putting on the centre stand.

OK, thanks, this one works !
It more or less confirmes what I was thinking.
I've been thinking about another way of fitting the centre stand, using a smaller diameter pin (which can pivot into position) & bushes to fill in the difference in diameter.
I'll let you know when I've come up with something.......

Hope you don't mind but I have used your pic to start of the Centre stand fact file.
A couple of project and fitted pics would finish it off well ;D
Cheers
Good luck

Good news. I am sure you will get it sorted one way or another and that will add to our fact file.
I have had a good look at your website today, and although I had to use the translation button on a couple of the linked sites I would advise others to drop by as there are some great camping tips on one of your links. In addition to some good riding tips as well!

All done ! I modified my site, have a look at this link: www.stoeretassen.nl/My_NTV650/Middenbok/Centre_stand.htmAlthough I rarely use the centre stand (I find the bike rather heavy to lift it up on the stand), I'm still happy that I did this job. Even if it was only that I had a good look at the muffler and made sure that it would last a little longer. Franklin

Hard to get on the stand. Try getting her balanced on the legs of the stand and then getting all your weight to push down with a firm stamp. D not try to lift her onto the stand. I used to do that with my CG 125 and that was hard to get on the stand as well! I found it works a treat and alway put her on the stand. If that is not clear I am sure others will chip in , as it should not be hard. Thoughts anybody? ATB Roger P.S. This is what I was trying to explain. www.5min.com/Video/How-to-get-a-bike-on-the-center-stand-1238

Interesting video Roger. These are the same people that gave me lesson in picking up a heavy bike Also, I noticed that my (heavy) suzy is actually a lot easier to put on the center stand... I'm not sure about them olden days, but now-a-days, putting her on the centerstand is actually part of your driving lessons and exam. (so is parking a bike backwards into a parking bay while walking next to it) Franklin: where did you get the rubber stop? I really want one or my bike, as mine is gone....and I hate that the center stand keeps smashing into the collector

Hi Roger, Thanks for the video. I (sort of) knew this already, but I still find it difficult. I have an additional personal problem that my right leg got badly injured in an accident once. I haven't got a lot of strength in that leg. I tried it using my left leg, but that's hopeless.
Hi Buzzin, The rubber stop was purchased at a local industrial supply shop (industrieel toeleverings bedrijf, zeg maar een grote ijzerhandel, maar één die meestal bedrijven als klanten heeft ipv. partikulieren. Dus geen Gamma / Formido etc.). If you can't find one, let me know and I buy one for you. They are only 2 or 3 euro each.
Ride safely
