The best way is the only way - if you want to keep the "Million Mile" Warranty and get the best out of your filter. Rather than describe, here it is from the manufacturer: www.knfilters.com/cleaning.htmIt goes without saying that you're best off using the K&N cleaner and their filter oil. Basically: - lightly brush off any loose dirt
- Soak the filter medium with cleaner, allow it to stand for 10 minutes (but don't allow it to dry)
- Rinse "backwards" (from carb side to outside) with a gentle stream of water.
- Allow to dry
- Recoat with filter oil
