Don't talk about wet to me....I did a 1.5 hour run (one way) yesterday to a friend....after 30 minutes I realised my boots, gloves and helmet weren't waterproof any more.... There was just too much water and strong wind for the helmet....and the boots and gloves are a complete write-off. All this gear gave up within 1 week of each other...looks like I know what to get myself for x-mas.... The best part? having to get back in the gear for the ride back On-topic: I think all the pictures should be entered into a poll for the next background. Perhaps we should have a separate competition for nicest NTV picture and have the winner on the front page?

I've just been a short trip along the coast and into Whitby. It is horrible heavy rain, strong gusty wind and the temperature was falling quickly (from 5C to 3C in 15 minutes to get home) I think the mighty Pan is going to stay tucked up for a while

Up early this morning ..Sky black, day cold, feeling miserable ..log on.... Ah summer rides................ ;D ;D happy days again... Nice pic for a winters day... Ps, on the Pic comp front should we have a 'Voting off' round..? You know, the vote on the lot until there are 3 favourites, then vote again just on those 3, type of thing? Not sure how easy the polls are to do, and too many choices might be impractical, but just a suggestion...

The polls are easy to do, but we only had 11 members vote.
There were several people who contributed to the debate that did not vote, so they clearly looked at the thread and felt something worth their time to comment, but not worthy of voting.
I think the suggestion you made to have an additional "none of the above" response might help. I'm not sure that having an X-Factor style "vote em off" would make it better, but it would be straightforward to do if enough people think it is worth doing.

OOhh not even 10%...that's a poor show.. Must do better next time.... ;D So no X factor...mmhhh Ok, think i will go and find a few pics for the new year backgound. how hard can this be to win the next one... ....Google's "babe in a bikini, on a beach, sitting on a bike' The polls are easy to do, but we only had 11 members vote. Cyphron has kindly sent me a copy of the background photo in Hi-Res, so I've reloaded it and think it is even more stunning (I did vote for this one!) Shame we can't see more of it when all the text boxes etc load up in front of it The complete photo can be seen here

no point in voting for a pic when i disagree with the pictures Mmmh Fair point there, norfolk..Kind of agree to an extent, and i think that is why the 'None of the above' box has been suggested so that people who do disagree can still voice their opinion. But like i said, when we set up 'BG Pic' Comp it was almost an after thought, just a little something to brighten up the forum while we read the post. personally i like to take pics but i know i don't really have the eye for a good shot like yourself, Cyphron or JJ perhaps, amongst others, so i didn't really give it much thought. But now we got this round of pics out of the way, and i now realise how talented and effective some of the members pics can be, maybe we should have it judged in a more 'professional' manner. It is still just a forum pic, but why shouldn't it be a good one..? (oops realised how that sounded so better say that Cyphrons pic is very good, and set the standard for clarity and quality that we now expect... ) The way forward is clear for all those budding and able photographers amongst us, either take those pics YOU want us to be looking at next month, OR rummage through the one's you have taken, and select one or two that you think are winners, post them in and let us all vote on it. And for those 'Camera Challenged' Like myself, maybe search out a particular pic that you think is the 'One' we should all be looking at for the first month or so of the New year... at the end of the day we will all get to vote as a forum on it, so IF you want a particular pic on the forum, put it forward and it may win, But remember...You can't you win it if you ain't in it!.... ;D On a side note to everyone, it is worth reminding ourselves that we are a wide ranging group of individuals, (and many of us have never met in person) so it's normal that we will disagree on this and many other issues, but once the points raised have been made, we should all move on and learn from the experience. All we can do as a forum is listen, and agree to disagree sometimes. Ride safe all..
