Possibly bad news for me I'm afraid Swine Flu has hit a few people I work with We're doing some business continuity plans and having to reschedule the duty manager rota. I'm having to cancel my next trip home which means 22-23 Aug is my next chance to head "Ooop North"

Getting close I'll be heading out on Friday....travel along the northsea coast all the way to Calais, cross there and head for a hotel/B&B Next morning I'll do a route along the southcoast of england and hopefully arive in one piece at the airfield... I still have to sort out the route in england, and find a good hotel etc. but I usually keep that till last I'll post my route here once I finished it, if anyone wants to join me, or advice me to stay away from some bits, please let me know BTW: what time will the meet be over? as in, what time can I expect to leave?

Buzzin, I'm really really jealous. I wish I could come...... If I would go, this would be my route in the UK: Dover -> Folkstone -> Dymchurch -> Romney -> Rye -> Hastings -> Eastbourne -> Brighton -> Shoreham by the sea Then go in north-west direction -> A283 Petworth -> A3 Petersfield -> B3006 Alton -> A339 Bastingstoke. On the other hand, the route over the A21 through Royal Tunbridge Wells is also beautiful. I have a feeling this will take you most of one day to ride this route. If you want to go fast: take the M20, M26, M25 & M3. This will take you from Dover to Basingstoke in 2 hours. In my experience, if you want to find a place to sleep, then go away from the coast. Most places on the coast are either expensive or already full. Ride some 10 miles inland and you'll find more & cheaper accommodation. Have a nice trip ! Franklin

I plan to arrive on site between 2:30pm and 3:0pm on Saturday.
I will then need to be on the road about the same time on Sunday as we are going out at 6:0pm in the evening as a family.

I am indeed looking....thanks for the link I always love the reviews on those sites: us...so at least two people that couldn't figure out how to operate a shower.... now either it's bloody space technology, or they weren't exactly the shapest tools in the shed now were they? It's a shower, you push/pull/twist something and water comes out....if you nearly burn yourself, you've pushed/pulled/twisted the wrong way.... ;D

Franklin Actually, that was largely the route I was going to take....although I was planning on sticking to the coast a bit longer... I don't have MapSource here so I prepared the route in tyre (tomtom/googlemaps). I have to convert it of course, but this should give a clue how I am driving I hope the Inn still has place, as I would love to go there....they are listed for their beer ;D

tut, tut Buzzin, where is the good Observational skills you'll need for your journey ;D ;D Might be a good idea for those looking at the popham thread who have S/O's to do a few Life savers, might save a whack... (just in case the missus is looking over your shoulder).. ;D Rj was thinking about leaving 1-130 sat and getting there about 2-230. Hopefully meet up real easy. on a side note got me a tent today, Wanted something that me and the missus could use that offers a bit more then a canvas roof. So went for a 2 person with a porch area, Only thing is she ain't coming and it says it needs 2 people to put it up , won't be a problem if she comes camping next time but for now.....will anybody help me.. Will try and set it up before the day, total novice, although i refuse to let something new get the better of me. Ps anyone had the same situation, and got any tips? Thinking it might just need the end held, so am thinking about something like a peg or small grips while i do it solo...oh err missus... looking forward to the weekend come what may, in fact getting quite excited...

hmmm...not sure what time I'll be there....I'll have to see, but considerring I have to stop for fuel and food on the way I don't think it's going to be 14.30, more like 17.00 or so...depending on the time I leave my hotel...(check out is quite late at 10, but I will try to leave at 8-ish)
