I might be from a little village in S/Wales, but even i know where Popham air field is, from this way it's about 20mins passed Andover on the 303. Trouble is it's rite in the middle of my summer break, and I have not a clue where i'm gonna be, camping proberly but with the otherhalf and the kids which means no bike.

As i was reading this i was reminded of our last outing (No sky not that kind... ;D ) to Loomies.. and i wrote this at the time "Well a good ride out, and although some of us had only just met, the group and private conversations seemed to flow. I think everyone had a chat to all the group at some point, and it didn't seem that anyone was left out. As a 1st time visitor, service was good considering they were so busy, food was ok, (Burger and chips ) but i liked it. Crowd were friendly and approachable, and ride down was very nice once we left the motorway, A32 very enjoyable.. ) So all in all a good day, looking forward to next ride out. Same riders would be good but if others joined us that would be even better.. ;D. If the gosport/south coast lot could swing it I'm sure the London crowd could manage Bristol-ish area, might suit the welsh / west england contigent ;D..possibly.. " Yes it's not bristol, but if we don't get anything else going, we could have one really big meet up if we plan this properly.... Just a thought...

Not sure yet if we could camp on site but they must have some facilities. www.hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?t=7796I am still working on the General for a leave pass (looking good so far) but there must be a pub / camp site in the area.

Its on. I now have a leave pass and Mcf looks up for it? Anybody else? See email below from dick at Popham Hallo Roger Yes, you and the gang ( I loved that bit, you bad boys and girls )can camp here on site prior to and after the Megameet as you wish and there is no charge either. Having said that, the event is a semi commercial one and I have to charge a fiver for adults who come to the Show on anything other than a bike over 30 years old. There will be the usual mobile eateries on site plus a bar on the Sunday (and toilets) but bugger all on site for the campers during the evening. There's a little chef type place which is on the other side of the road by the airfield (as seen on TV)and variious local pubs..... The airfield's clubroom does a superb breakfast for a fiver on Sat & Sundays when there's not an event on. Worth knowing about as we are starting to get quite a flow of bikers here at weekends. There's lots to see while here - like aeroplanes! Also, I'm the Manager of the place and a dedicated biker with classic machines of my own and always pleased to see motorcyclists here. dick Richardson www.popham-airfield.co.uk

Hallo Roger Yes, you and the gang ( I loved that bit, you bad boys and girls )
I hope no-one else read that and started thinking that RJ might be about to start a chorus of "I'm the Leader of the Gang" I really do not want to think of RJ wanting us to dress up in Glitter Suits www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxvetM7uqmsThat's worse than his speedos! I'm chalking this down as "yes" to attend. However, my work schedule is rather crazy and as always, I may have to cancel at short notice.

Shame he is such a prat off stage. Couldn't agree more Rumour had it sometime ago that he was a near neighbour of ours, living in Warsash (near Southampton)

I've been doing some research: It's only 380 km's from where I live to Dunkirk. The Norfolkline will put me & bike across the channel for about €60 (return fare). Then it's another 275 km's from Dover to Bastingstoke. For a return trip, that only about 4 tanks ! From my home to Basingstoke could very well be done in one day. I think I may well go and have a chat with my wife......... See if I can get permission. Franklin
