Hello
My father passed away recently and left me his (93) NTV 650. He bought it for when he and I toured Scotland 20 years ago (me on my Transalp), and kept it. He hadn't used it for 4 years when he passed, having moved onto a Guzzi V50 in 2016 because it was smaller, lighter and more manageable - my dad was still biking at 80, but wasn't as strong as before.
I have just brought both bikes home. The Guzzi is fine, as he used it up to a few months before he passed. The NTV I'm wary of, as it's been sat in a (cold and damp in the winter) UK garage since 2016. I know that these bikes are ultra reliable, but I don't want to assume all will be fine and try to fire her up. I plan to squirt some spray oil into the spark plug holes, change the oil and filter, change the tyres (plenty of tread left on both, but fitted in 2001 and 2012). The bike has 15000 miles on it, and has been defuelled for a long time.
I would appreciate any guidance regarding what else I should be doing to make sure she's well prepared for firing up for the first time.
Thank you.
