I'm currently using my brothers '97 650 revere, and I've had a few problems with it overheating, once where all of my coolant boiled out of the bleed pipe as I was stuck in traffic. I've had a look over and I'm considering putting a fan switch in so I can have the fan on when I'm doing city riding, but I also checked and noticed that the oil level is HIGH. Obviously, I will be correcting this, I just wondered if anyone had any advice on how to handle the overheat issue, and whether the oil level may have been affecting this? Thanks in advance.

Overheating can be down to 2 things. 1. the engine is running too hot or 2. The heat is not being dissipated.
Check and replace the antifreeze in case there a lot of air in the system and clean the radiator fins. Also, check and clean the carbs if you can - it's probably running a bit lean. Oil level won't affect the temperature.
If you can try to take temps of the exhaust from each cyl so you can see if its only 1 cyl or both
They hate stationary traffic so if you stuck, just turn the engine off.
