Hi Folks!
The NTV is still running strong, now on 110,000 miles. Unfortunately a couple of minor crashes due to weather and diesel have left her a bit beat up looking but getting tidied up again now!
Recently due to work I have had to get a car, so have been driving a Reliant on my bike license. It does the job well but the lump is just not up to the mileage I do and is really giving me grief. I have decided to go a bit nuts and re-engine it with something a bit more appropriate - and NTV engine. Its more powerful, lighter and far more up to the mileage and long motorway journeys as well as being a lot more robust. Plus i have a garage half full of parts for them and know them quite well already. it'll fit in the gap and Ill be able to run a shaft from the bike output splines to the original reliant gearbox. As a result of this Ill keep reverse gear and leave another 20 forward ratios available between the bike gear box and the cars! plus 5 speeds in reverse but realistically will leave the NTV engine in one gear and drive as normally but use the bikes gearbox like an overdrive on the motorway to keep revs down.
Ive measured up and it will all work I just need an engine to start mocking it all up and a loom to graft in to the reliants loom. Down pipes would also help.
Does any one on here have anything that they could let go to a good cause?! Name your price! I can also offer a quick go in the result of the project which should be a good laugh. a chunk more powerful and Ill make up some rose links to use the NTV gears like a sequential box for racecar fun!
ALSO
worth mentioning, because the bike gears are less crucial, I could use an engine which has a slightly dodgy 2nd gear if anyone has one theyve retired due to that.
Running is preferable and would need starter motor and stuff like that, the more the better but I can always source parts if there are bits missing.
Thanks for reading!
