Looky what my darling missus has dug out of the crypt: Look at my hair (I had some), and my waistline (it's visible), and my Derri Boots ... OK, forget the Derri Boots! Oh, to be young and stupid again.

My very first set of two wheels was a piaggio liberty that didn't work
, moving on from what would have been a painful period using a hairdryer powered mode of transport i found a Kawasaki Eliminator in pristine condition, 2001 edition, learner legal 125, i was in love with biking as soon as saw it, i bid on it, and trailered it away, did my CBT cheekily riding it once to the shops before.
and then a year later moved up to do my DAS and passed, bought a old FZR 400 yamaha 1987 1wg, which was always needing something done, but was a fast, at first intimidating, but wonderful bike.
A lovely man in a red laguna backed over it a year later, and so i moved on to my 1992 Revere, which i love, Honda may be supposedly bland, and the model reputed as dull, but i have loved the riding experience from the first day, til the current - i nearly didn't snap her up, but then something pushed me over the dark side of auNTy and here we are, brilliant NTV 425 pounds
a back wheel change later, a screen here, a T cut there, a standard number plate after a 60 pound fine, and new bar ends, grips, re-badgings later, i have what is my definitive take on the NTV 600 Revere

Let us not forget the one I still remember fondly: (Still wearing Derri boots) Yes, I would have another like a shot, at the right price (£50 and a packet of Ginger Nuts seems fair).

a standard number plate after a 60 pound fine That must have been pleasant to swallow! What was up with the one you got fined for? I got a fine many years ago for a personal plate because the gap between two numbers was a little too big. All of the characters were legible and had not been changed, it was very clear (to me and the MOT station I had to report to) what the number said, but plod obviously had other ideas

Kirriepete - was that MZ the one with a gear lever that doubled as the kick start? I borrowed one for a couple of weeks (back in the day ;D) and it was bizarre having to fold out the gear lever to kick it off

The kickstart/gear lever machines were CZ's, a whole horse of a different kettle of coloured fish compared to the wunnerful MZ. We MZ riders couldn't look down on many other bikes, but CZ's were definitely beneath our level, as were Suzuki's coz we knew they nicked their stroker designs from the East Germans. Consider yourself educated. ;D

I think it was a "New Hudson", the "Autocycle" (I may be confused, often am...)... Formed part of a hedge in the 50's, "the tractor-man" helped get it started Misfired my way round the back lanes for a few weeks in the summer holiday. Nobody worried, (v-max. 20kts...) Started properly mid-teens with a salvaged NSU Fox 4-stroke single 125 Fixing it up was part of learning me spanners thanks to the patience of our local backstreet-garage hero. After that, lots, two of which I wish I had kept, a 'Guzzi 250 horizontal single, and a BMW R80RT Hip replacement has eased the need for the current step-through (Tmax) and..... The NTV has a high percentage of the most likeable features of several of my past favourites Desperately tight pensioner money means I'm selling the Tmax to help pay for me racer project Also the NTV will get a slight upgrade in the quality of scrounged scrap parts If anybody really wants, I could bore on for ages..... Anyone? OK, fair comment by polite silence ;D All the best Ed

My first was a little Suzuki gp100 it was quick for a 100cc bike it did 65mph and even faster with the help of a slipstrem from a worried car driver!
Then a Honda cb100n that was a bit disapointing after the 2 stroke lary Suzuki but it did start first kick every time and was capable of 200+ mile trips to Shropshire and back all for 2 gallons of fuel or a tanks worth!

A nice little Savage you had there, my mother bought one but was mostly too scared to ride it. I think it was alittle too much for her to cope with. Did you change the stock exhaust? I remember it popping like crazy on de-acceleration.

Did you change the stock exhaust? I remember it popping like crazy on de-acceleration. Never changed the stock exhaust. The popping was due to the carb being set up very lean - the popping usually happened when closing the throttle.
