It was already an item in the old country, but it might be nice to make another go at this. My first bike....was my Revere ;D Let us know what your first bike ever was, and what it was like in the days of your first miles/kilometers

Oh nice post .... ;D My 1st bike was a gt250 suzi...and i loved it.. ;D Mates had bikes, i wanted the 250 yam my mate kev had, but the suzi was available that week, th eyam was 2 weeks before delivery, so i got the suzi instead. All of a sudden the world opened up, No longer contain by the borough or the marker between our turf and the gang next door. we were free................ ;D ;D But the furthest we ever got was the isle of wight for a weeks camping.. but it changed me forever, suddenly the world was more accessible, albeit i went by plane not bike, but foriegn ports lay ahead for me... Take that chance and be free, who knows when it comes again. .

Ah well it's 1955 and I'm 16 , I've been saving up for a year or so as my dad says if I can save half the price of my first bike he will pay the other half. My uncle is selling his motorcycle and is willing to hold it till I have the money, it's a 1949 BSA C11 250cc in blue and it's mine for the princely sum of £60, with wages at about £5 per week that was a lot of dosh. A top speed of 60 mph but about 75 miles to the gallon if you eased back on the throttle, a museum piece now but it led me to today and my NTVs 53 years on. Mick.

First one I owned was a Honda red CB200 - brand new on 01 August 1976 - ODC 891R - why would I remember that? I really wanted a Suzuki GT250 with Ram Air and twin discs in blue - just like Jaz got!

Let me guess, in those days the horsepower and extras sold the bike? (and well, the colour) Because, lovely as they look, I don't see much difference between the 3 japanese bikes

Like Buzzin, my very own real first bike was (and still is) my NTV650. But I've rented a few bikes before I owned one: In 2003 I had a Suzuki Bandit for a weekend (this is it, with one of my daughters on top): And in 2004 I had a Suzuki V-strom (650) for a weekend. Yes, this is me on it. So now you know what I look like. Ride safely, Franklin

Nice to meet you franklin........... McF, that honda's a real pretty bike, looks like it was loved and cared for. And buzzin, the bikes just like today had their own feel about them, and as much i secretly adored the swoop of the gas tank on the yam, it still relished leaving him for dead when he tried to open it up and outrun me...hehehe But they do certainly look a bit dated...like myself i'm afraid.. ;D ;D
